    2. Definitely not native American. Here is tthe opening paragraph on my Crofutt ancestors. The surname Crofutt is a variant of Crawford: one who came from Crawford (Crow’s Pass) in Lancashire, a dweller near a river crossing where crows were seen. The Crofutt family tree is one of the four main trunks of my pedigree, ending with my Mother Florence Elizabeth Crofutt who died in 1988. That line has been traced through nine generations to Joseph Crowfoot who was born in England about 1630/35 possibly in or near Lowestoft, or Beccles, Suffolk. As a very young man he found passage to America working as a servant, settling in Springfield MA where he became a Freeman in 1672.
