I am not sure if she was adopted in Cortland Cty or Onondaga, but I know she was born about 1861 and married an Unknown Chapin, then divorced and married my great grandfather,Benjamin Isaac Schouten in 1890. Their entire married life was in Cortland Cty. Viola also had a step-sister named Leana or Lena. Benjamin had many relatives in the Cortland Cty area.
