The letter lists info about Richard's wife and children. - Transcript of letter from Richard Dickinson to his brother, John Leonard Dickinson Dated May 24, 1880 Dear Bro John yourâ?Ts was gladly recâ?Td though perhaps I out to have written you at once but have waited until now. I regret to hear that your health is so poor but hope you may get well, as good health is of more value than riches. My health has always ben very good of course I do not feel young but am able to do a good deal of work. Betsey health is not first rate. We are living alone so far as our children are concerned. Ella is at home part of the time. Florence Carter our youngest daughter is in Brooklyn, canâ?Tt tell the st. (undecipherable) just nowAll of the children would be pleased to correspond with you or your children at any time as they all like to write. Your ideas of our more frequent correspondence is very good and when you write me again, I try to answer more promptly. When we were at home and young I thought Father very singular why he did notkeep any correspondence with his bothers, but alas how little did I know of the effects or cares (following?) years but I think we ought to write every now and then to each other. I cannot tell you any thing new about the country here, but you could tell me much that I do not know about the! west. Where is (Geo, or Bro. Orin?) I have heard that he was in Wisco nsin but cannot tell exactly where. I suppose he is married. Wadsworth is dead and Sophia lives on the farm in (?) her address is Tylerville, Jefferson Co. Nathan C. Carrke (sp?) and Rebeckey are both dead. Lydia our sister and her son Willey Billings are in the west. I cannot tell exactly where but my son Solon H Dickinson is a going up to the National Convention at Chicago and expects to go see his Aunt Lydia and her son. I said we lived mostly alone we have Mother Rea is with us but Father Rea has ben dead some 5 years. I can only count a few here who were here when we were young. We all joine in sending love to all of you. Now thanks be unto God, who has watched over us in a life time that has been passing swiftly by . May our ardent prayer be unto him for his protection in time to come and may we at last be gathered to his Kingdom above.
