A possibility for you is John Crofoot b. abt 1838 son of Horace and Betsey Crofoot. In 1850 they were in Victory, Cayuga Co., New York. He is the right age. Some of my Crofoot line do pass through South Butler, Wayne Co. Rhoda Crofoot Frazee, who was the neice (daughter of Benjamin Crofoot) of my husband's 4th ggfather (Joseph Crofoot) was living in Butler, Wayne Co, NY in 1850. The Joseph's nephew (Silas D. Crofoot b. 1829, son of Reuben) is buried in the South Butler Cemetery. Horace is tied to this family group but I haven't figured out how. There was an elder Horace who must have been either an unconfirmed brother of Joseph or else a cousin. Sorry I don't have anything definitive on your family tbc8@cornell.edu
