Middletown, NY 1762, d.Leyden, NY 1829. She was his third wife and I haven't found a record of their marriage yet. They were married in (or around) Berlin, CT about 1810+. They had a son named Russell who was born and died at 2 mos. in 1814. I believe that they had another son in 1815 and named him Russell as well. The second Russell is my g-g-grandfather. At one time I found Olive, listed as a widow on the 1840 census, but that information seems to have disappeared from the census records, as I can't find it again. though he died in Oct. 1828, Joseph is listed as head of the household on the 1830 census, but there's no mark for him in the rest of the record. Anyone know anything about any of these people?

That information came off his death certificate. Following is his newly-found obituary from the Russell (KS) Record dated November 10, 1921] OBITUARY - IRA D. CROFOOT (Died Nov 2, 1921) Ira Davis Crofoot was born May 17, 1880 near Wilson, Kansas. He spent most of his early life there and was a student at Kansas University, graduating in 1903 with the A.B. degree. Fellow students say that he was not only a very good student, but that he was very popular with all with whom he came in contact. He was married May 17, 1908 (their birthdays) at Colorado Springs, Colo., by Rev. Adnah Moore to Miss Eva Carson, a daughter of the late A. C. Carson long a prominent citizen of Lucas. They have nine children as follows: Gladys, James, Sibyl, Harry, Jean, Betty, Dorothy, Margaret and Miriam. Other near relatives are Grandmother Davis, Mrs. Ida Crofoot, his mother, and Mrs. A. M. Austin and Mrs. George Perrill, sisters. April 4, 1920, Mr. Crofoot came to Russell and bought the ice plant from Anton Smetana. Since then he has been in charge and has worked increasingly to build up the business and with much success. He was getting calls for his product from many of the neighboring towns and was handling the local trade with a degree of satisfaction to them which made him a friend every day. None of the jokes or usual complaints of ice men were ever heard about him except in pleasantry. He was clean and straight, forward, industrious, and accommodating, happy and agreeable. He was destined to become the head of a fine plant and business and to be a citizen of much usefulness. He was especially devoted to his home and which there was no happier one in town. Few men have come to Russell and in so short a time have won the good will of everybody. The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church and was conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. D. Faupell. A male quartette composed of D. S. and L. D. Landon, H. E. Holzer, and B. F. Wood

This lovely little Church is still in existence and is located in Westchester County, New York. Please note that many of the surnames are misspelled by today's standards and for the most part these errors were left exactly as found. There were 61 pages from which the old records were transcribed, and date from 1752 to 1823, and are separated by headings of: MEMBERS, MARRIAGES, BAPTISMS, DEATHS.
