I think it would be most practical to get them to make the Marriage Birth and death records for the 19th century on line, much as the Ellisislandrecords are. Most of Croatia is Catholic, and most of these are microfilmed. It would give the greatest possibility of finding your immigrant ancestor... even non-catholics would most likely find an ancestor, since grandparent, uncle etc., would probably be Catholic.
