If you look at the IGI's on LDS web page these have been inputed by volunteers for the Scottish and English births, marriages, etc it shows the name of the person, date, batch no, the film no and serial number etc. Maybe it would be a good idea to speak to Thomas Edlund to see how we could get this up for Croatia as well. It would probably take a long time with volunteers reading film especially if they are not familiar with latin or the names themselves. mary -----Original Message----- From: SHAWN FOGARTY [mailto:fogdryer@msn.com] Sent: Tuesday, 5 March 2002 10:51 AM To: CROATIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CROATIA-L] Edlund on Croatia: a modest proposal I agree................. shawn ----- Original Message ----- From: DAVID N MOTHKOVICH Sent: Monday, March 04, 2002 5:20 PM To: CROATIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CROATIA-L] Edlund on Croatia: a modest proposal Let me put my 2 cents in on this. I think it would be most practical to get them to make the Marriage Birth and death records for the 19th century on line, much as the Ellisislandrecords are. Most of Croatia is Catholic, and most of these are microfilmed. It would give the greatest possibility of finding your immigrant ancestor... even non-catholics would most likely find an ancestor, since grandparent, uncle etc., would probably be Catholic. Just a thought. Dave M.
