Ashley, it was Joseph II (1780- 1790), the ruler of Habsburg Monarchy which included the Kingdom of Croatia who ordered compulsory schooling. Unfortunately of course not all communities were as fortunate as Fuzine and Mrkopalj to be able to establish the schools. Tatjana
