Hello Sarah, We were able to get my great great grandfathers and grandfathers Declaration of Intention through the County in which they were filed. I live in Minnesota. Hopefully, this is what they do in Montana. Does anyone have any idea if "Intent" papers were retained locally or nationally (at the national archive in D.C.) if a Petition was never filed?
