Karen, Not to dispute John... rather based on my knowledge of CINDRIC in Croatia and in PA I would suggest that 1) while as I mentioned CINDRIC does appear in other parts of Croatia the name has its origins in the Kordun region, placase like Slunj, Cetingrad (aka Veliselo), Cetinski Varos 2) if one looks at ship manifests for CINDRIC there are an amazing number of ship manifests that are found for BOGOVIC, where those BOGOVIC had a destination where there was a CINDRIC located... and their place of origin was from that Kordun region I mentioned. For example an Ante (Tony or Anthony) BOGOVIC arr 1905 destination was to an uncle Janko (John) CINDRIC at Uniontown PA Ante and several other men on that manifest were from Veliselo Also a Franjo CINDRIC arr 1901 from Valiselo destination to uncle J. CINDRIC at Uniontown So far what I see occuring CINDRIC and some BOGOVIC from Veliselo (aka Cetingrad) are going to Uniontown And it is interesting if you travel up the main highway in the direction of Karlovac you will find CINDRIC from Zagorje going to McKeesport and Cokeburg PA. Ellis Island shows neither BOGOVIC nor CINDRIC arr from Vrbovsko which is much farther north and a bit east from Kordun area. Also many BOGOVIC and CINDRIC from Kordun area arr at the Port of Baltimore, which was the 2nd most common port for Croatian arrivals. Also if they are the John and Mary CINDRICH found in the 1910 census living at German, Fayette CO PA (John worked on the RR) that census record shows Mike and Anna as 4 years old a bit off from the info you have. I only know Cindric as we had a family friend in Melbourne who was from Vrbovsko and then later moved back there about 10 years ago. So definetly a Cindric at least there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Jerin" <rjerin26@yahoo.com> To: <croatia@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 08, 2007 10:09 AM Subject: Re: [CROATIA] CINDRIC - BOGOVIC > Karen, > > Not to dispute John... rather based on my knowledge of CINDRIC in Croatia > and in PA I would suggest that 1) while as I mentioned CINDRIC does appear > in other parts of Croatia the name has its origins in the Kordun region, > placase like Slunj, Cetingrad (aka Veliselo), Cetinski Varos 2) if one > looks at ship manifests for CINDRIC there are an amazing number of ship > manifests that are found for BOGOVIC, where those BOGOVIC had a > destination where there was a CINDRIC located... and their place of origin > was from that Kordun region I mentioned.
