    3. Thanks everyone for your suggestions about next steps in my research of Josip Radosevic. I went to NARA (US Archives) and looked at the manifest for the ship Martha Washington. (Image was not available on-line.) The add'l information it contained for Josip Radosevic leads me further to believe he must be the one I am looking for. The pros: This Josip was headed to Chicago, which is the place family say their Joseph came to, and the name and residence of a relative outside the US was asked in 1911. Josip answered Father: Ivan, of Lic^e. Family says his father was Ivan. The two items that still leave doubt in my mind are: (1) the Manifest says he had been in the US previously, from 1901-09, and family says he told them he came over in 1911, at age 16. They have no recollection of him saying that he had been in US before that. (2) The Manifest lists him as from Lic^e and family say he was from Zagreb. By arriving in 1911, Josip missed the 1910 census and there are 9 years until the 1920 census. I found Josip Radosevich age 25 in Gary, Lake Co., IN, living as a boarder, in the 1920 Census. This must be the one I am researching. He is the correct age. Family says he lived in Whiting, Lake Co., IN. Thanks again for your suggestions, they are always welcome. Jolie PS: I am gathering a substantial file of information about Radosevic(h) families in America and about Croatian immigrants in general. It is interesting to track the trends that appear. The majority of the Radosevic men, and later families, came from Mrkopalj and Lic/Lie/Lice/Lokve (spelled a variety of ways on the various ship manifests; might be different villages). A few each from Delnice and Ogulin. A couple of people each from Donji Kosinj, Novigrad, Gorski Kotar, Kosin, and Darnvar. Some of the communities they left in Croatia appear to be logging regions. However, they went to coal mining communities when they arrived, with very few exceptions: Gallup, NM (Mines); Duluth/Virginia/and Hibbing, MN (Mines); Birmingham, AL (Mines); Rock Springs, WY (Mines); Toluca, Marshall Co., IL (Mines); McKees Rocks, PA (Mills); and Chicago, IL (Mills). __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. The Social Security Death Index shows two Joseph Radoseviches born in 1895: 1) Born 23Jan1895; SSN 326-05-0331, issued in Illinois. Died Mar1980 in Albuquerque, NM, zip 87109. 2) Born 8Mar1895; SSN 307-30-3652, issued in Indiana. Died 25Apr1990. With the SSNs you should be able to get additional info. Hope this helps rather than complicates...
