    3. I am trying to find information for someone on the island of Cres who is searching for U.S.records of her ggrandfather, Antonio Maver, who, according o the Ellis Island records, came here on the ship La Bretagne 5/10/1903, Port of Departure - La Havre, France and went to Chicago IL. According to these records, he was a widower. There are 4 Antonio Maver's on this site but the one who is 35 is her ggrandfather. She believes he died in the early 1900's. I notice a few of the people from Cherso/Cres, Fiume, etc. went to the same address is Chicago, which I assume must have been a boarding house?? Can anyone give me guidance on how I can get more information on this Antonio Maver for her? Thank you. Ellie

    3. Elaine Try to find someone to look-up the 2206 Wentworth Ave. address in the Chicago city directories. Try the 1910 Federal Census index. Both Antonio Mavers on that ship gave that address as that of their fathers-in-law, Antonio and Nadal (?) Lablich (?). The surname Lablich doesn't seem right though, it doesn't turn up in either the U.S. or Croatian phone directories. Illinois should have death records for the early 1900s. Good luck Roanne > I am trying to find information for someone on the island of Cres who is > searching for U.S.records of her ggrandfather, Antonio Maver, who, according > o the Ellis Island records, came here on the ship La Bretagne 5/10/1903, > Port of Departure - La Havre, France and went to Chicago IL.
