I'm wondering if anyone out there has connections with that last name in the Wisconsin area. The particular town in West Allis, essentially part of the city of Milwaukee. My Great-grandmother was Helen POJE/POJI/POGE/POGI, and would have been born 1880ish (Grandma was born 1904). Helen's husband was Joseph ZALAR, Grandma was Amalia ZALAR, later changed to Mollie--I think when she was married. She became Mollie WRIGHT m to Jay Victor WRIGHT. Any info on connections or the origins of the name would be appreciated. Tom Wright
Any information the names of Papich/Polish would be greatly appreciated. Julie ---------------------------------------------------- Sign Up for NetZero Platinum Today Only $9.95 per month! http://my.netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum&refcd=PT97

Some time ago, I received some information from a Sekulich in High Prairie, Alberta, Canada on ancestors of my father-in-law. Info as follows: ? Sekulich spouse ? Children Lawrence Sekulich Joseph Sekulich Mila Sekulich Tomic SEKULICH spouse ? Children Victor Sekulich Philip Sekulich Stephan SEKULICH spouse Helen Pavic Children Daniel Stephan SEKULICH (my wife's father) Following is information that we had prior to the above discovery: Daniel Stephan SEKULICH, DB December 15, 1893, PB Lovinac, Croatia, DD July 6, 1985, PD Red Lodge, Carbon County, MT, MD July 23, 1916, MP Lead, Lawrence County, SD, Spouse Mary Lillian KLEPICH, DB November 1, 1900, PB Lovinac, Croatia, DD August 17, 1988, PD Red Lodge, Carbon County, MT. Michael KLEPICH, DB September 29, 1873, PB Lovinac, Croatia, DD July 5, 1942, PD Red Lodge, Carbon Co., MT, MD July 23, 1898, MP Lovinac, Croatia, Spouse Lucy Ann ZDUNICH, DB December 13, 1877, PB Lovinac, Croatia, DD June 23, 1940, PD Red Lodge, Carbon Co., MT.. Children, born in Lovinac besides Mary Lillian KLEPICH, Peter Paul Klepich, DB June 29, 1902. They had other children that were born in the USA (Lead, SD and Red Lodge, MT). I have no idea when Dan Sekulich came to the USA, nor do I know when the Klepich family came here. We were told that Dan had a brother in Canada, but don't know his name nor where in Canada. Dan is listed in the Polk City Dir., Red Lodge, MT 1916 (N W & I Co.). This is a coal mine. Michael Klepich is listed in Polk City Dir., Red Lodge, MT 1919 (nipper). This is a job in the coal mine. We have been told that Mike and Lucy Klepich were in Duluth before going to Lead. Have no official records of this, however My family, BOSONE, came from the northern part of Italy (Feletto and Busano, Torino, Piemonte, Italy). Again, I want to thank you for responding to my initial "query". I hope the info above will help. Hi Joseph, Welcome to the Croatia list. I'm always thrilled when someone researching in Lovinac pops up. My grandfather Anton PRPIC was born in Lovinac in 1884; he and his brothers emigrated to North America in 1902, eventually settling near Kenaston, Saskatchewan. There are Lovinac SEKULICHes and ZDUNICHes among the Croatian community in Kenaston. I'm even related to some of them, although not closely. You will probably be interested in this message posted on the Rootsweb message boards. This fellow is also researching someone named SEKULICH from Lovinac. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jRC.2ACE/696.1967 I haven't done any research in the old country yet, so I can't be much help to you there. I am interested to know when your immigrant ancestor left Lovinac, and where they settled. Would love to hear more from you, Leslie in Victoria, BC
I am researching the surnames, SEKULICH, KLEPICH, and ZDUNICH. They were from the town of Lovinac. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Hi there, Has anyone heard of a Wojeck or Wojcek in Croatia...Around Slavonski Brod or Zagreb. Thanks and regards, Tony
While looking up my aunt's family, SAFER/ SEFER/ SCHEFA/ SCHAEFFER, at Ellis Island, I ran across some names in the manifest I recall vaguely someone on this list looking for. Anyone interested in Joseph MAJIC, possibly MAGIC or MAYIC in the USA? Joseph arrived on April 13, 1907, via the SS. Potsdam, from Zakovac, maybe Zvehovac, Croatia, headed for his cousin Petar Ljubojevic in Stambough, Michigan. A few lines further down, another LJUBOJEVIC was headed fro Brazil, Iowa, to visit his brother Pete. One cannot not wonder if these Ljubojevic names are connected, also. Hoping the Majic family sees this and recognizes the names, Ashley
I'm hoping for some help from anyone recognizing these names: SPEHAR, SCHEFA, SCHAEFFER, NALEISH, RAITH, all from 1907 in Milwaukee. Does anyone reading this have a city directory for the approximate year, maybe even 1910 in the city of Milwaukee? Could you do a lookup? I've been trying to find information on my aunt's parents, not that she'd ever thank me. When I do turn up a tidbit, she always seems very interested, but never remembers what I've shown her, and her kids, my cousins, mostly only want to know about the blond side of the family. Croatia is so far away and everyone there has dark hair and swarthy skin, almost as though they're gypsies. Could anything be worse? Ah, well, some of aunt's cousins ARE interested and have been quite helpful. In the interests of pure research then, I've tried to find my aunt's father at Ellis Island. The index has been touchy sometimes when I do searches, and previously I had > not turned him up. Tonight I found him as Mato SCHEFA of Novaki, Croatia ( > near Virovitica ), possibly > traveling with Franjo and Rosalia NALEISH, NALEUH of Novaki, both the couple > and he going to Milwaukee. This may be a name connected with Michael SCHAEFER of the former bakery on 35th Street, originating in the same part of Croatia, but if so the two families have lost the connection. Can you help put the links together? > > > Half excitedly, > Ashley

Kevin, I have been a subscriber for years. The service is spotty. I do think and have been serviced better by Genealogy.Com. In any event, here is my two bits worth. Ancestry owns Rootsweb which is excellent for what it does. Actually, there is no one else quite as complete as Rootsweb, again for what they do which is extensive. The Ancestry effort on census digitization has been so-so with hard to use indexes. I actually got more value from them before their great drive for digitizing census data. One area that I have been consistently disappointed with is the Ancestry CD's. I find them difficult, lacking in quality and data depth and a true waste of money. Their My Family site has worked well for me as a family web site although it just went form being free to $15-20 per year. I actually belong to a number of discrete sites hosted by My Family that are affiliated with joint-family web sites. I belong to several because, despite some overlap, each has some unique features that I use. Dick Puz
Didn't find anything there on my Croatian ancestors or the German ones. I found the census info to be missing a lot (black pages) and very difficult to see (not searchable). I found the CD's at my local LDS site which was searchable and printable - much much better. As far as being a weekly 'winner' on ancestralfindings.com, an affiliate of ancestry.com I think it must be a scam or sorts. I was a 'winner' and have emailed them 4 times to fine out how to access the site for the 'free' lookups and have as yet received no response. Sorry, but my experience has not been good. I have a subscription and have used the Census images. Other than that, I have had no luck with finding anything related to my Slovenian/Croatian genealogy. Hi all I was just wondering if anyone is a subscriber to ancestry.com and what their opinions of the service are. Also, do they have any documents from the Slavic areas? Thanks Kevin *------------------------------------------------* You plant the wars you masters of men plan the wars and point the way and we will point the gun.
Fantastic new searches available thru Google. Try typing in "horses" and get images of everything from cave art to horses dead in earthquakes to miniature horse photos. If you've seen it work already, sorry to duplicate the posting. I 've been startlingly successful recently with some genealogy searches and not keeping up with the mail. If it's new to you as it was to me, hours more fun in store. Forwarded from the KS-Clay county ListMom. Roanne, Gee, thank you very much for getting the look up. I very much appreciate your effort. You have gone the extra mile and you have my thanks. Dick Puz
Thanks for sharing the information on the Puz family. I would appreciate any information on the Tetlo family. Perhaps your "kind soul" would like to look them up and reply here or to my email acocella@gmx.net. Thanks in advance.
