    3. Was St. Jerome a Croat, what about Coach Makovic, IL Governor Rod Blogojevic is Serbian I think, and then there's Goran Voranjanic from NBC televisions ER fame? There are a number of beautiful models, I think Donald Trump's current wife is Croatian as well... can't remember her name. There is a Golfer in South Africa name Matkovic.. and a Soccer Player named Bakic, and then there is the illustrator/ historian V. Vuksic - I saw his books for sale on ebay. Don't forget to mention that Croats invented the TIE... I would include Adam Eterovic as famous for many genealogy books, and helping to unite hundreds of Croatian immigrant with their family histories. 3. Another famous Croatian is Maxo Vanka. I have included a short paragraph about his murals in St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Millvale, Pa. Carol St. Nicholas Croation Catholic Church in Millvale hides the striking and unusual murals by Maxo Vanka, a Croation artist who fled to the U. S. in the mid-1930s. He built a new international reputation for himself when he painted the ceilings and walls of St. Nicholas. The mural compares Jesus' mother weeping at the crucifixion, a Croation mother weeping as she raises her sons for war, and an immigrant mother weeping as she raises her sons for industry. A figure of Injustice wears a gas mask. Another section of the mural mixes images of Christ with 20th century soldiers and shows a greedy capitalist ignoring a beggar at his feet. Other parts of the mural depict equally sharp social commentary in paint. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sauter, Vicki L." <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 8:12 PM Subject: RE: [CROATIA-L] famous Croats - another list ! > Well, another name that the teacher might recognize is Tito ... who > "united Yugoslavia" while he was alive (or at least that's the > propaganda I remember hearing).
