    1. [CROATIA] Radic'/Radich in Wisconsin
    2. Ashley Tiwara
    3. At one time there was a Radic or Radich family in northern Wisconsin, somewhere around Ashland, on Lake Superior. I remember asking my Croatian grandmother about the origion of the name, thinking about the radish vegetable, but don't recall what she said, although she knew them. There's currently no listing in Ashland, but this person listed below may have origions there or on Krk, which is near Rijeka. Quite a few Croatians from northern Croatia ended up in the Ashland area. Radic, Josip 1640 University Dr, Apt 15 Menasha, WI 54952-1191 (920) 720-2814 There's also a single phone book listing for this surname in Milwaukee. Perhaps this will help, Ashley --- tony zugay <tozug@satx.rr.com> wrote: > Robin, > There was a Radic family in Steelton PA. Steelton > is a small town near > Harrisburg. 3. Robin, There was a Radic family in Steelton PA. Steelton is a small town near Harrisburg. I went to school with Anthony and Regina Radic in the late 40's and 50's. We attended St Mary's parochial school attached to St Mary's church in Steelton. To the best of my knowledge their father was first generation i.e. the grandparents came from Croatia. The Parish was renamed Prince of Peace and is located on S.Second street in Steelton. You may be able to obtain info from the church about early members. Good luck Tony On Oct 14, 2006, at 6:13 PM, robin wrote: > Hello all, > > > > Looking for anyone who might have any information on my relatives. 3. Hello all, Looking for anyone who might have any information on my relatives. I traced the majority of them to the island Krk, lots of Radic'/Radich over there, but not all related. There is a retired priest over there that was putting together a genealogical book from the island and my father lost contact with him. Lives around Bogovichi (spelling), Malinska towns. Towards the end of the book in bold print I see my relatives name, Antun Bianchi and the fact that he is from Cavtat and that he went to Cairo, Egypt, which does fit the family story. Thank you very much, Denise

    1. [CROATIA] BIANCHI IN CAVTAT, CROATIA
    2. Dear List, I sit here in Cavtat, Croatia wanting to encourage each of you to continue your pursuit of finding your roots. I began two years ago with absolutely nothing at my fingertips and here I am spending time with my family and three weeks in the most lovely country imaginable in a jewel of a village south of Dubrovnik. There is only one other person I have "met" on this list researching in Cavtat and I certainly encourage him to come here and meet any family that may be here. I have found the people inviting and encouraging of my endeavor and the Church records, cemetery and town full of my family information. I had the great joy of meeting Niko Kapetenic in person after my relative spotted him on the side of the road near his old family home in Konavle when we were on our way out to dinner . I am afraid without papers in front of me, I may have spelled his surname wrong, but I am sure you know who I am referring to. I took a photo at the cemetery for the gentlema! n who is researching in Cavtat because I recognized his family name and it actually joins into my family tree a few generations back. Best wishes to all!! As Mr. Jerin stated about his seminar, "I have had Croatians of all 'ethnic groups' attend my seminar” and this seminar will be of interest to many Americans of Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Serbian and German descent whose ancestors came from Croatia." Mr. Jerin will present such topics as: • How to get started with your family tree • The do's and don'ts of genealogy • History and origin of Croatia and Croatians • Croatian immigration to the United States and the journey to America • How our ancestors lived in the "Old Country" • Meaning of you family name • Tips on how to find records at Ellis Island and other Ports of Entry • Locating birth records, marriage records, death records in Croatia and in the US • How to translate Croatian records • How to figure family relationships, cousins, second cousins, first cousins once removed, etc. The seminar will include examples of searches using attendee info… we will actually attempt to locate records of someone's ancestor at the seminar using the Internet. You will receive a personal copy of Robert’s handbook, “Searching for Your Croatian Roots”, which is yours to take home with you for further study and research. Robert also offers research assistance to seminar participants as often as they need it in their future research. Please bring a “brown bag lunch” as we have so much to cover, coffee and Croatian pastry will be provided. At lunch we will view a video, which was recently done by the Port of Hamburg Germany that recreates an immigrant couple's journey from their homeland, across several countries on foot and by train, what they went through at the Port of Hamburg and finally boarding a ship to America, which is much like the journey of our ancestors.
