Patrick, I have a David (Milton?) Crews who settled in this same area of Bedford Co VA. Were on waters of Elk Crk, small tributary to the Roanoak River near Johnson's Mt. David and first wife Annie Magee had a dau born in Bedford Co in 1767. In the later 1770s David bought and sold several pieces of property along Elk Crk before moving to KY, the Boonesborough area. This David was the son of David Crews and Mary Stanley. It has been rumored he had a brother named John Crews but that has never been positively proven last I heard. David and bro John entered into a lawsuit in KY in later years over land. Someone else out there may can shed more light on subject as my research in this area is several years old.
