Hello all, Jeremiah Cruse (b:1765, VA) , according to his son, John L. Cruse pension records states Jeremiah's fathers name as David and being born in VA. He (John) stated at the time of enlistment in the Seminole War, he was 22 years of age, five feet and six inches tall, with gray eyes, light colored hair, and a dark complexion. He states he was born at Lewisville, Jefferson County, Georgia on October 24, 1814. He states his mothers name Delilah Huggins born in VA. Could this be the same Jeremiah Crews that married Elizabeth Harland? It has been suggested by historians that during the era that many men had "consorts" and perhaps Delilah was Jeremiah's until Elizabeth's death. He married Delilah in Jefferson County GA in 1827, but John L. was born in 1814. Born out of wedlock or was this Elizabeth's son raised by Delilah? Can anyone out there help out with this one? Brenda
