All, After reading the info in Jerry's latest e-mail. I have a few comments and/or questions on the decendants of John Crews. First off I suspect that I too, am a decedant (via Samuel and Joseph). What I did was to cut portions of Jerry's tree and added my comments. My comments are between the asteriks (***). Thanks and Merry Christmas1 Dave Crews Generation No. 1 > > 1. JOHN1 CREWS1,2 was born 1725 in North Carolina, and died Abt. 1820 in South Carolina. He married NANCY COLLINS. *** I suspect the bd is incorrect for this John (see below). More like 1750s. Now his father may also been named John b. 1725-1729. I have seen a reference to a John Crews that was b. 1729 in the local Family Research center. There were so many John Crews (Samuels too!).*** > > Children of JOHN CREWS and NANCY COLLINS are: > 2. i. SAMUEL2 CREWS, b. 1796, South Carolina; d. 1870, Baker County, Florida. *** John would be 71 at the time of Samuels birth? I have Samuels BD as 1790 from records in the Huxford Library in Homerville and Baker County Historical Library in Macclenny. There are also tombstones (these stones are newer granite type though) in the Crews Cemetery (outside of Baxter, FL) that have Samuel AND Elizabeth b. 1790. *** ii. JOSEPH CREWS. *** I have never seen a Joseph listed as the son of John, though I would love to see a copy of a reference *** > 3. iii. ALEXANDER CREWS, b. Abt. 1775, Charleston District, Colleton County,  South Carolina; d. 1848, Charlton County, GA. *** John would be 50? *** iv. ROGER CREWS, b. 1789. *** John would be 64? ***  v. MICAJAH CREWS, b. Abt. 1802. *** John would be 77? ***  4. vi. ISHAM CREWS, b. Abt. 1785. *** John would be 60? ***  5. vii. JOHN CREWS, b. 1805, Beaufort District, South Carolina; d. 1875. *** John would be 80?*** > > Generation No. 2 > > 2. She was born 1790 in  South Carolina, and died Aft. 1880 in Baker County, Florida. *** I would love to find a copy of the reference for Elizabeth (Elgin Barnes Genealogy Books).*** > Children of SAMUEL CREWS and ELIZABETH GRIFFIS are: > iv. (2) SARAH JOHNS, > 1833, South Carolina; b. 1815, South Carolina; d. 1859, Clinch County, Georgia6. *** Only document I have seen supporting that Samuel is Josephs father in Judge Huxfords personnal notes and POWG. I say this as there is a 12 year gap between Joseph and the next sibling, though I have seen references that Samuel and Elizabeth separated periodically.  Never seen proof of the alleged marriage of Amy to THIS Joseph; just speculation as there several Joseph Crews in the area at the time. Also, Joseph would be 15 when married. *** Let's compare Notes! Thanks again!!! dc
