Hi All: I'm very sorry to be late to join this discussion. Littleberry Crews is my 3GGF and I want to cast my vote on the side of "no William as a first name." I have done significant research on him using microfilm of the original records, wills, deeds, marriage bonds, etc. I found him referred to as Littleberry, Littlebury, Little Berry, Barry, and even L. B. But I never found an original document with the first name of William. If anyone can reference one, I will apologize to the group. Secondly, none of the other children of Gideon and Jemima Crews were given a middle name. Lastly, I believe the first time that "William" was used as a first name was a series of family group sheets prepared by Shirley Ann (Murphy) Manos of Weatherford, Texas in 1977 and 1978. These sheets included some of those Crews descendents who migrated to Texas. The sheets have been published in several places. The family of Thomas Anderson Crews was one of those that migrated to Texas. This family included Thomas Anderson Crews' eldest son, William Littleberry Crews. William Littleberry Crews was born in 1856, not quite one year after his grandfather, Littleberry Crews died. It is clear that William Littleberry Crews was named after his grandfather. But I believe that someone erroneously assumed that the grandfather he was named after had all three names. For all of these reasons, I believe Littleberry's full name was Littleberry Crews. Thanks for listening, Thomas Randolph Crews (Randy)
