Hi All! I discovered something today which was new to me. You probably all already know this, but in case some don't..... I knew my CARPENTER line came from William the Carpenter of Melun, France. In desperation still trying to find my CRUISE line (no pun intended) I looked at a map of France. There in front of me was the county of Creuse and the Creuse River. Next I looked at the County Seats. See if any of these names seem familiar (remember to pronounce them with the French accent): Evry, Rodez, Caen, La Rochelle, Tulle, Gueret, Valence, Evreux, Quimper, Marson, Nancy, Vannes, Nevers, Clermont, Pau, Colmar, Macon, Rouen, Melun, La Roche-sur-Yon. It is not that I am stupid, I just forgot the connection to Europe and by looking at the map, it gives me new spellings to check. I also have Avery (Evry, Aveyron, Evreux ) and Powell (Pau ) and cousins named Rhodes (Rodez) and Garretts (Gueret) in my tree. Donna Donna --------- End forwarded message ----------
