Gray, thanks for the reply re George W. Crews. I felt that it should be shared with everyone on the mailing list because others are compiling databases, too, and they will need the info. I think we can pencil your George W. Crews in as the same George W. Crews we already had in the database. (For Joanne B. that's number 18335. The place & time seem to be just right.) Gray, do you need the ancestors of George W.? He comes from the same line that Charles D. posted yesterday. George W., Joseph, Jonathan, William, David, William W., and John. (Sarah Gatley). If you want more details, let me know. I'll try to con someone into posting the rest of it. <G> Did George W. and Elizabeth Smith have any more children? Here is Grays' reply............ Smith b: Abt. 1938 m: 23 November 1969 Gray ......................................... Robert J. sent this expansion on Reuben Crews..... Reuben Crews first appeared in the Stokes list under Capt. Smith district (the tax keeper) 1802 with 98 acres. This is different district than other Crews men. In 1803, he appears in same tax list as the others. I found his name scattered thru the list up to 1843, where I stopped. Accordingly, Reuben Crews was probably born before 1803-21= 1782. He was not mentioned in Thomas Crews' will of 1830, so had to be (?) member of other Crews - possibly James or David. The two Ashley Crewses were members of Thomas' family. The 1820 census of Stokes lists Reuben on same page asDavid Crews, Thomas Crews, James Crews, Hiram or Harmon Crews, and William Crews. Reuben was age 45 and up (b. bef. 1775 ). In 1830, Reuben was listed as age 50-60 (b. 1870-80) on same page as John Crews (age 60-70). Thus, Reuben was probably born between 1770-75. Bob Thanks for the data, Bob. I'll be studying it, that's for sure. Pat
