My line moved from VA to Carroll Co., TN, and then on to Ballard Co., KY. I will be willing to share information on this line of CREWS with anyone else researching the same line. I came upon your discussion of the Lunenburg CREWS just recently and don't know what all was covered earlier. I have the following which I will be willing to share with anyone interested: Will of John CREWS dated 19 November 1790, recorded 2 April 1792, Charlotte Co., VA. Will of Richard CREWS dated 1 June 1792, recorded 13 September 1792, Lunenburg Co., VA. Will of Richard CREWS, Sr., dated 9 May 1819, recorded 38 August 1820, Halifax Co., VA. Will of David CREWS dated 19 October 1819, recorded 24 March 1823, Halifax Co., VA. Indenture between Richard CREWS and Mary CREWS h/w and Dorotha CREWS widow of David Crews, Sr., dec'd., made 17 December 1823 Halifax Co., VA. Will of John CREWS dated 14 November 1837, recorded 26 August 1839, Halifax Co., VA. Indenture between John D. CREWS and Elizabeth h/w, Gideon CREWS and Lucinda h/w, Allen CLAYBROOKS and Frances h/w, and Susanna CREWS made 6 December 1837 Halifax Co., VA. I have a list of CREWS found in HALIFAX COUNTY (VIRGINIA) CEMETERIES, Volumes I & II, by George C. WALDREP III. I have a copy of the HISOTRY of ELLIS CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH 1812-1985 which has some information on Hiram G. CREWS (1831-1917). I would be willing to copy the book and send it to anyone interested. I have been told that "my group of CREWS, ie., John CREWS of Lunenburg Co., and his descendants, were known as the Ellis Creek CREWS. Deed of gift of Richard CREWS and Mary CREWS of Carroll Co., TN, to their daughter America CREWS, dated 10 October 1832. I also have the following newpaper article (don't know from what paper) dated 1989. "The descendants of Isaac Russell and Lou Hundley CREWS will have a reunion Sunday, July 23. There were ten children born to this couple. The sons were named Whtifield, Burmah, Isaac, Spurgeon, Judson, and Elisha; the daughters were Louisa CREWS SAUNDERS, Mary Jane CREWS SAUNDERS, Patty Bett CREWS PALMER, and Salley CREWS MARTIN PALMER. If you are a descendant or relative of any of the above named, pack your picnic basket with food, grab a lawn chair and head for Ellis Creek Baptist Church on Highway 624 near Nathalie on Sunday, July 23. Lunch will begin about 1 p.m. Please plan to arrive in ample time to register and receive you name tag before lunch, a spokesman urged. If you are a member of this CREWS clan, please notify any family members you know. In the event of rain, lunch will be served at Triangle Fire Building. The memorial for Isaac Russell and Lou Hundley CREWS will be dedicated on July 23." I also have a CREWS name index of Grantor/grantee for Halifax Co., VA, 1752-1900. It is 11 pages long - I would be happy to do look ups for any interested CREWS researcher. Janet ______________________________ - ----------------------------
