    3. Hi Everyone, Is there anyone out there researching the group of Crews families that emigrated to Carroll County, Tennessee (in 1831) from the Ellis Creek area of Halifax County, VA.? This group included, at least; Richard Crews (son of David Crews,Sr.) and two of his nephews, James C. Crews (son of David Crews,Jr.) and David Crews (son of John Crews) with their families. (Also included, were; Chandler, Edwards, Estes, and Toombs families.) They settled (by 1832) in the northeast corner of Carroll County (District 17). This group was later (1834-35) joined by Richard's brother, David Crews,Jr. who was the father of James C. Crews. In the 1840 Census, the brothers (Richard and David,Jr.) are still in Carroll County but James C. Crews and David (his cousin) are in Henry County (southeast corner). From 1840 to present, these families have grown and grown (of course) and I have studied all census and marriage info that I can find, over and over. (sound familiar?) The two older members, Richard and David,Jr., had some 30 children between them (or at least, living with them at various times). Most of the children had married, died, or left by the time the 1850 census was taken, when names could have been attached to families. I have made out family sheets on the many Crews families from the census and marriage info but still there is the problem of tying anyone married before 1850, to a father. James C. Crews was my GG Grandfather and he was a preacher but I have never heard of or found out anything about him leaving a family Bible. Any help or clues of any kind would be deeply appreciated.
