    3. Clifton , I too am researching the Crews(or Cruse) family from the early 1800's in Carroll Co, TN's 17th district. My gg grandfather was Isaac Crews. In the 1850 census his mother is the H.O.H. The listing is: Martha Cruse 48, Elizabeth 20, Margaret 19, Elisha 18, and Isaac 16, all VA born. By 1860, Isaac is still living in the 17th district of Carroll Co, and he is H.O.H. The listing is: Isaac 35 VA, Rhoda 35 TN, Elizabeth 3 TN, William 1, TN, and Martha 50, VA, indwelling. This family is actually listed twice in the 1860 census. By 1870, Rhoda is the H.O.H. We believe Isaac was killed in the civil war, but we have not proven this yet. My line, as I have it: Isaac Crews (Cruse) b. June 13, 1834. He married Rhoda Ann Myrick on August 08, 1856. She was born February 28, 1828. Their children were: Mary Elizabeth Crews b. July 29, 1857 d. March 24, 1933. Married John Green Watkins (this is my line). William Daniel Crews b. April 01, 1859 d. February 10, 1935. Will married three different wives (he lost each of them by death). They were Frances Barnhart, Lucendia Bateman, and Sally Glover. Known children of Will Crews and Frances Barnhart were: Alice Crews Brown and Irene Crews Terrell. James W. Crews b. October 29, 1860. He married Louisiana Bell Brown. Their known children were: Onie Crews Purvis, Clara Crews Cooper, Sophia Crews Lays, and Will C. Crews. Andrew Charles Ethelder Alexander Peter Rolan Crews (Andy) b. November 25, 1863. I do not know the full name of Andy's wife, or who his children were, for sure. Some of the people labeled in old pictures as cousins of my grandmother were: Ivan Crews, Beulah Crews, Earl Crews, Versie Crews, And Dick Crews. I would assume some of these people were the children of Andrew, although they could have been children of some of the other brothers listed. I have just not tried to piece them together. All of these children of Rhoda and Isaac Crews/Cruse lived their lives in Carroll or Henry Counties of TN. The 17th district borders Henry Co, so many of the Crews families ended up in Henry Co. I'm happy to share any info that I have with you or anyone else researching this line. Maybe together we can make more sense out of those censuses!! Patricia "Clifton O.
