I read this post with interest because of the Hubbard-Indian connection. A recently published "heritage" book included the Hubbards in Bibb Co., Al., one of whom came to Al. in the 1820s. His name was Hadley Hubbard and he brought with him an Indian woman with two children. Hadley being a prominent name in Quaker records as well as Hubbard, it occurs that, as often happened among Quaker families, this Hubbard had been given someone's maiden name as a given name. I checked the Hubbards, Hadleys and Crews in the 3 meetings in NC that I have records for but could find no Hadley/Hubbard marriages, however. This person came from Lancaster, SC, to Al. which still doesn't preclude his having been connected to the Quaker Hubbards/Hadleys in NC. I don't know if this means anything or not but thought it might have some meaning to those who are researching these families. DJ
