My Crews are connected to the Quakers by the surname Stanley & Meredith. James Meredith b. abt. 1747, married Mary CREWS. She was b. abt. 1752. They may have been in VA but she died in 1820 and he died in 1823 in NC. This James was the grandson of Simon , who put up the money for son Hugh Meredith and Benjamin Franklin to start a print shop in PA. I need more information on this Mary Crews, said to be the daughter of David Crews and Phoebe Duchee/ Gooch. I have found some reports that she may have been the daughter of a Hardy Crews. As Quakers, I have found that many of them kept moving. From PA in 1600, in VA & NC in 1700, OH by early 1800 and my line in Indiana by the early 1800. Other Crews that are connected to my Stanley line . Thomas Stanley Jr. born 1689 & first m. Elizabeth Maddox had 2 children. Second m. Elizabeth CREWS and they had 10 children. One of their sons, Thomas Stanley lll, b. 1731 d. 1797; married 1755, a Sarah CREWS, b. 1728 d. 1805. I have no idea who the parents of this Sarah CREWS are. Would you believe it, I have still another CREWS mystery. Brother to Thomas Jr. above is Zechariah Stanley, b. 1737 d. 1810, marr. 1st. Susannah Mendenhall and had 3 children. 2nd. marr.
