    2. Hi, Mary, This is what I have in my family papers on this family. I don"t see either Mary (mine) or Anna in your letter. Where have we gotten mixed up? Pat also known as Duchee, Dutch. Family history says Phoebe was full blood Cherokee Indian. Born and died before 1800 east of the Mississippi River on the Cherokee Reservation. (Friends Collection at Hege Library Guilford College NC) Doochee was either her father's name or an associated clan. name was researched with a Cherokee linguists to no avail by Kevin Cosand Patton. A famous Cherokee chief of the 1800's had a similar name derived from the word for German immigrants referred to as "Deutsch". This has been posted by T.
