I have made this posting in a while, so I will try it again. I am looking for the ancestors of Joseph and the elder Samuel Crews. Samuel (my gggrandfather) was born in 1835 in SC and married Morgianna Waldron. Huxford states in Vol. III of POWG that Samuel was the eldest son of Joseph Crews (1810-1856) also born in SC and is buried in Clinch County, GA. Joseph married Sarah Johns (b. 1815 in SC). So far, I agree with this. It is Joseph's parents that I am puzzled by. Huxford stated in his personnel notes that Joseph's parents were Samuel Crews (b. 1790 in SC) and Elizabeth (b. 1790 also in SC), both are buried in the Crews cemetery near Baxter (Baker County) Florida with another part of the Crews family that I had once thought were un-related to me. I have never run across any type of confirmation (other than Huxford) that lists Samuel and Elizabeth as the parents of Joseph but, if this is true... I recall a recent e-mail that stated (yes I deleted it) the elder Samuel Crews (b. 1790) and perhaps Alexander Crews were brothers with their parents being John Crews and Nancy? Collins. I am hoping this is so, but my smaller branch of Crews has been pretty difficult to trace this point. If anyone has ANY information on this branch of the Crews, please contact me ASAP. Thanks !
