    3. Hi You..all, This is my first try at posting after signing up for CREWS-L. I am interested in further info about Nancy WADE, the first wife of Meredith CREWS. Could she be the Nancy CREWS that I have been looking for below? Any help would be appreciated. Jack Crewse, St. Louis,MO [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1830 Rhea Co, TN Census - Nancy CREWS 11101-1101101 page 389 The very next line of the 1830 Census lists - Martin CREWS 10001-0001 (relation unknown) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I believe the breakdown for Nancy CREWS family would be: Age Male - Female age brackets 0 to 5 1 - 1 b. 1825 to 1830 (1 male & 1 female) 5 to 10 1 - 1 b. 1820 to 1825 (1 male & 1 female) 10 to 15 1 - 0 Male Rufus Crews b. 1820 (Jack's gggfather) 15 to 20 0 - 1 b. 1810 to 1815 (1 female) 20 to 30 1 - 1 b. 1800 to 1810 (1 male & 1 female) 30 to 40 - 0 0 to 50 - 1 Nancy Crews b. 1780 to 1790 ---------- Nancy CREWS b c1780 to 1790 last known to be in Grandview, Rhea Co TN. On the 1830 Census she was the head of the household and had 4 boys and 4 girls. Nancy CREWS b. NC, only shows up in TN on the 1830 and 1840 Census. In 1831, Nancy Crews and Martin E. PAUL (relation unknown) received a land grant from the gov't for a 500 acre farm at Grandview, TN. Nancy's son Rufus CREWS sold the farm in 1855 and moved to MO. On 23 Sep 1837 the Tenn Rhea Co Court records a mortgage deed where Nancy CREWS (made her mark) and Hardy CREWS borrowed money and gave the farm (500 acres) and everything that could be seen as collateral. The only Hardy Crews shown on the next TN Census is in another Co of Tennessee with his own farm and family. The 1850 Census showed only Rufus(30) and his family still in the same location (Grandview, Rhea Co, TN). No CREWS graves have been located in Rhea Co, TN. ---------- Rufus sale of the TN property - On 12 Oct 1855 a deed was recorded where Rufus sold to Richard COLLINS. The Collins deed refers to the land grant of Nancy CREWS & Martin E. PAUL and a copy of Nancy's land grant was listed in Rufus' probate assets at the time of Rufus' death in 1889. ---------- The Martin E. PAUL in the land grant later md. a Martha CRUESE in Rhea Co TN, date unk and id of Martha unk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
