    1. [CREWS-L] EARLE? or EARL?
    2. MRS PATRICIA A RAY
    3. Andy, I forgot to comment on if Eliazabeth EARLs' name is with an "e" or not . I have her and her father with no "e", but since they're from England , I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that it should have an "e". Where did you see it with an "e"? I've been going back over the first issues of CREWS-L and found your note asking why John changed his name from CREW to CREWS with and "s". He probably didn't change it and I'm not sure why an "s" has been added. Our theory is that the "s" orginally denoted possession, as in someone saying, "That belongs to the CREWS" or CREW-SES. Most of the people of that name are spelling it with an "s", but not all. We still find people who have the original(?) spelling. Even some spelling it CREWE just like CREWE, England. We really DO try to spell it however the records show. But I know I mess up quite a bit. I think we use "CREWS" as a generic term but it could really be another spelling. My own family is CREWS so I guess I can be excused a little? <G> I have another question on the ancestors of "Junius Polk CREWS". You say he is s/o James S. CREWS and Sarah HIGHT. And James was s/o Littleberry CREWS and Elizabeth EARL? I have 5 children for Littleberry & Eliz. and one is James Fletcher CREWS who m. A.M. NICHOLS. I show that Littleberry had another James by Nancy CHEATHAM. I have no wife for this James. Now do I have something wrong here? Who is James S. CREWS? Is his mother Nancy CHEATHAM? Pat
