    3. To Mary Lynn Crews, Re. your 4/18/99 note inquiring abt parents of David M. CREWS m. Elizabeth "Betsy" SMITH: In our CREWS db (which is a FYI type, use only for leads and clues since input to it is from a variety of sources, proven and unproven and most certainly has to contain some errors) we had originally been showing David M. as s/o Jeremiah CREWS per info from researchers we had at that time. However, I now show him as s/o Redman CREWS per this info posted to the Prodigy CREWS bulletin board in Sep 1997 by Joann Caravito (who is a member of this mail list). If you need the name of the d/o Richard Clay CREWS send me an email and I will send to you privately.: (quote) The DAR application about Redman Crews'sdescendants is as follows: 1. (d/o Richard Clay CREWS, still living) 2. Richard Clay Crews born 15 Jan 1893 at Crawford Co., Indiana, died at Louisville, Ky 24 April 1982 and his wife was Anna Elizabeth McCarty born 12 June 1896 at Kerry Co., Ireland. She died at Louisville, KY 11 June 1951. They were married June 1920. 3. Richard Clay Crews was son of Jeremiah R. Crews born Aug 1852 at Monroe Co., KY died at Crawford Co., Ind. on 9 Oct 1935. Wife was Sarah E. Goldman born Jan 1858 at Crawford Co. Ind. died at Crawford Co. Ind 8 Feb 1932. Married about 1889. 4. Jeremiah R. Crews was son of David M. Crews born 1829 at Monroe Co. KY died Crawford Co. Ind. married abot 1850-51 to Susan Ann Brown born 1831 at Monroe Co. KY died Crawford Co.Ind. 5. David M. Crews was son of David M. Crews born 18 Dec 1793 at Green Co., KY died at Crawford Co. Ind about 1870 his wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Smith born 1794 at Green Co. KY died Crawford Co. Ind bef 1880. They were married 7 Feb 1815 at Barren Co. KY. 6. David M. Crews was son of Redman Crews born 1764 Halifax Co. Va. died Carroll Co., Tenn 1831. References: Barren Co. KY tax records for proof of David being son of Redman. Pension Application and Payment Record and lastly Preponderance of evidence-tax, Pension, Affidavit until proved wrong.... Children of Redman listed as: Redman b. 1822, Barbara Ann b. 1824, John [no dates] and David b. 18 Dec 1793 m. Elizabeth Smith. (end of quote) I show that Elizabeth "Betsy" SMITH was d/o Jeremiah Motten/Molten SMITH and Diana (unk), so that would account for the names Redman and Jeremiah following through the desc. of this family. To answer your other questions, I have quite a bit on this but a lot of it is on other lines that tie into this one. Since it would be very long and probably not of general interest to most Crews researchers on this list, I'm sending it to you privately. Hope this helps, Joanne
