Just want to let you all know that on Thursday I subscribed the RootsWeb Threaded Archives to this mailing list which means that they will now get a copy of our notes and our notes will all go into the Threaded Archives from this point on. Now I know that all our notes for the past year and 4 months have gone into the RootWeb archives, but since these Threaded Archives are not including those notes, I propose that we all post our lines one more time so that they will be "threaded". I think I'll start it off myself with my own data. My gggf was John CREWS b. abt 1809 Madison Co, KY; d. 15 Aug 1891 Franklin Co, MO; m. 25 Dec 1831 Martha "Patsy" RHODUS b. c1812 Madison Co, KY, d. aft 1880 Franklin Co, MO; d/o Wm. Jesse RHODUS and Mary ELLIOTT of S.C. I have no proof of who his parents were, but others have told me that they were Robert and Rebecca CREWS of Va. Robert was s/o Richard CREWS & Esther PUCKETT. Richard s/o Richard CREWS and (prob) Sarah OWEN. This Richard had a brother, John, but we don't know their parents. Our family oral history says that our first ancestor in this country was a young blacksmith from No. England who, while vacationing in London, was shanghied and brought to work on the plantations of Lord Baltimore in the early 1600s. I was pleasantly surprised when I was given a reference that mentioned someone who was "enveigled" on to a ship in London. He was handed over to a man near Jamestown Va in 1667. With him was a man named John CREWS. (It HAD to be "John", didn't it!) I am extremely interested in learning more about this John CREWS. Supposedly, two of his gsons (prob ggsons) fought in the Rev. War and obtained land in KY for it. This part of the story doesn't fit with the Richards CREWS line, so that confuses the issue. There WAS brothers in KY who obtained land through Land Grants. This was David Milton CREWS and John CREWS. But I'm unable to find evidence that these men belong to my line. HELP? Or if you have PROOF that he belongs to the Richard line, I would be forever grateful. Something new that will help answer these questions! Children of John CREWS and Martha "Patsy" RHODUS: all b.
