Angela, Welcome! You're family belongs to a line that is slowly growing but still need lots of research. In short, your Amanda is d/o Banister CREWS (as you said). His ancestors are: Stephen, Hardy, Edward, Arthur, Edward. I don't have data on Amandas' spouse or desc's. She had 12 siblings and I have no further data on them except their names with one exception. Her brother Ephraim b. Oct 1845 Halifax Co, Va; m. Sara Rosalee SEATS b. Mar 1843. He d. 1911 and she d. 1913 in Advance, NC. I have one ch. for them, James Ephraim b. 1873 Davidson NC d. 1949 Advance NC, m. Autie BURNETTE. I'd appreciate any other data you could add to this for Amanda & her siblings. Here's more on Banisters' ancestors: Stephen Scott CREWS b. abt 1782 (c1774/84) Caswell Co, NC; d. abt 1856 (or1830/40) Jackson co, IL; m. 5 May 1802 Person Co, NC Margaret STILES. I show 9 ch. for them. Stephens' parents were Hardy CREWS b. 1740, d. after 1830 Person Co, NC, m. Martha Luethera GOOCHE for one and poss. a Martha ___? for another. In any case I show 3 daus for Stephen and Martha GOOCHE and 10 ch. for Stephen and Martha including Stephen Scott. Hardys' parents were Edward b. c1714 and Sarah CREWS. John, Edward & Josiah were his 3 youngest ch. as of 1773, named in his brother William's will. 10/95 *P: Edward had 2 land grants from the king of Eng, one in 1749 and the other in 1760; d 1787 Mecklenburg Co VA. "Hardy was oldest son, next in line was sister Median, next was Hardy's bro John Crews who m Sarah Nash. Altogether I show 10 ch. for Edward & Sarah. Edwards' parents were Arthur CREWS & Mary GRUMBALL (poss.) Son Wm. had will 1773 Halifax Co VA in which he named (by name) his siblings and each of their 3 youngest ch. (except Mary's were not named, just said ch of). I show 9 ch. for Arthur & Mary. Arthurs parents were Edward & Sarah CREWS - I assume this is a diff couple from the Edw & Sarah above. An Edward Crews was transported to Md in 1680 [Early Md Settlers by Skordas: WC2-Folio-133] There are others of your line on this mailing list, and they may want to add something - or not. If you have questions, they may be able to answer them. What I gave you is all I have except for names of siblings, etc. If you'd like a more complete desc. chart for Arthur & Sarah CREWS, let me know, although you can probably get one in the CREWS archives on RootsWeb. I hope you'll be able to share more data on your family. If you only want to list the ones born bef. 1900 or 1920, that's ok. I'll take what I can get.
