Hi, Vickie, Thank you for the information on Gideon Cruse. Knox County was organized in 1792 from Greene & Hawkins Counties. Possibly Gideon's land was located in the area that became Knox Co.? Is there any further records of Gideon in Greene Co after 1792? I have just started my research on the VA cruse families. One Cruse researcher with whom I communicated indicated the military applications indicated that Gideon had lived in NC for a time. That may relate to the fact that NC claimed the area that became TN in 1796. I need to visit the Federal Archives so that I can check the copy of the application.
