Hi Melinda, Re. your note of 7/13/99: There has been much confusion on this Joseph CREWS who m. Mary "Polly" ELDER/ELDAR re. who his parents were. I am at this point showing him as "possibly but probably not" s/o Joseph CREWS b. 1747 will proved Amherst Co VA 1802 m. Agnes (unk) c1770. The will of Joseph b. 1747 states "I have reason to believe my son Joseph is dead in GA", and it had been thought that the Joseph he was referring to is Joseph (m. Mary ELDER/ELDAR) who d. bef 1 Dec 1801 Oglethorpe Co GA - but then they came across something that indicated the Joseph who was s/o Joseph was not married. But you are in luck, this is the line of researcher, Carole Palmer. I don't have a current email address for her, but she runs the Webster Co KY rootsweb site and you can find her there. Children Williamson (her ancestor) and Nancy both d. Webster Co KY, so there should be info on this family there, also. Haven't been in contact with Carole for a long while, so don't know if she has come up with anything new on this. Per my records Joseph CREWS and Mary ELDER/ELDAR had 4 children; Williamson b. 1793 d. 1880 m. Margaret "Margery" MARKS, Polly b. c1793, Nancy b. 1795/96 m. Henry ASHBY, and your Anne b. c1794/1797. I can give you desc. on Williamson and Nancy. Mary ELDER/ELDAR m. 2nd c1801 Oglethorpe GA William CROWLEY b. 1772 Pittsylvania Co VA d. 5 Sep 1828 Henderson Co VA. She and 2nd hsb brought the CREWS ch to Henderson Co VA c1810, he appears on a tax list there 1812. I don't have sources, but Carole should. We have NOTHING on the child Anne except her name and b. c1794/97 Oglethorpe Co GA, and we would really appreciate it if you could share what you know of her, her spouse, and descendants.
