While searching for the surname SHEVLIN in the Ellis Island immigrant site, I stumbled across this CRERAR listing : James Dawson PRESTON, 25, single, blacksmith, last resided in Glasgow sailed into New York aboard the "California" departing Glasgow on Dec 9, 1911, arriving NYCity Dec 19, 1911. Destination seems to read Wilmington [in Delaware] but this is hard to read, it is overwritten by initials. The name and address of relative or friend in country of departure was : Br-in-law, Alexander CRERAR residing 56 Petershill Rd, Springburn, Glasgow. I was not only intrigued for the name CRERAR to be found, but know my HALCROW relatives lived at 111 Petershill Rd in the 1901 Census. For James Dawson PRESTON to have a Brother-in-law named CRERAR, his sister, presumably a PRESTON would have married Alexander CRERAR before December, 1911. I have no Alexander CRERAR in my list so far, but someone else might ! Anyone claim this line ? Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma, USA
