Am forwarding this almost in its entirety, it has to do completely with Mr. John CRERAR's death in 1905 in New Zealand. Since it was a newspaper obit, it was meant for public reading, only left out the name of the transcriber. Anyone know where this man originated ? His age was not mentioned, nor was his place of birth or family names. Meg Greenwood ========================= A result of your requested PML search. Crerar ========================= Source: NZ-HAWKES-BAY-N-POVERTY-BAY@rootsweb.com Subject: [NZ-HB-PB] HB Herald, Fri. Oct. 11, 1895 CRERAR OBIT We are grieved to have to record the death of a most estimable citizen in the person of Mr John CRERAR of this town. The late Mr CRERAR had been in delicate health for some time past, suffering from cancer on the liver, so that his death, which took place yesterday, came in the shape of a blessed release from pain and suffering. Mr CRERAR came to NAPIER some ten years ago and took over the booksellers' business at that time carried on by Messrs DINWIDDIE, WALKER and Co. in Tennyson street, and subsequently removed into Hastings street, where stands the establishment bearing his name. A genial man of integrity irreproachable, the deceased will be much missed in NAPIER. In CANTERBURY, too, and along the west coast of the SOUTH ISLAND, his loss will be mourned by many old settlers. The late Mr CRERAR was a keen bowler, and on the local green, as elsewhere, his loss will be severely felt. He leaves a widow and a grown-up family. ============================
