The Adair family is also prominent among the Oklahoma Cherokees and Oklahoma Creeks. Yes, they are direct descendants of James Adair, who wrote the famous book on American Indians in 1776. A client of mine just left the house, who is descended from Creeks, who lived among the Cherokees, but escaped to the mountains when the soldiers showed up.
