The area I live in was a Creek area for at least 2500 years until the British gave it to the Cherokees in 1755. However, there were at least 3000 Creeks still living in the Georgia Cherokee Nation at the time of Removal. Many Creeks stayed in the region and their descendants live here today. Until recently the Upper Creek descendants told people that they were Cherokees, because we Creeks have a reputation for not being submissive.
