Jerry, There was a group of ARDs in the Pulaski Co. GA region. My family was in this area and I noticed that name living near them in several counties. Then I began to wonder something: My line: Peter HODO& Susannah ? \ Richard HODO & possible Susanne or Susannah MOSES \ Nathaniel HODO b late 1700's md. Mary HODO b abt 1800 they lived in Houston and Twiggs Co. in 1840 and 50 he died in 1850, she left with young children, later moved to Conecuch Co. ALA as many people of this region did, and also to join her married children there Nathaniel and Mary had a dau., named Nancy ARDnella HODO. Or what looks like that, Ardella, Ordella, ARDella is real close to ARD NELLA, and I thought maybe she was named after Neil Ard. I looked at his will and nothing turned up anything to prove there is a connection. Probably purely speculation but I had to comment to you...and give you the tip about there being alot of ARDs in that region of GA alot of the people from NC came into GA, many seemed to be out of Robeson Co., where a great number of Lumbee lived and many others carry Melungeon names. in cluded might be my ADKISSON family, which appears as ATKINSON, ATKINS, ADKINS and variants of it. I have heard all my life that our family is from creek decent. My father thinks that it comes from the Ard family. I do know that Marshall/Bull was Indian, but do not know from what tribe or origin. If you have any information leading to my finding this information, I would greatly appreciate this. These people all lived in Dale County Alabama during the 1800's. Most of them came from North Carolina and South Carolina. > > Thanks for your help > Anita > > > ==== CREEK-SOUTHEAST Mailing List ==== > Visit Creek Indian History: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/native/tribes/creek/creekhist.htm > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
