Thomas and Emily are listed as "white" in census reports. Thomas moved with his older brother, James, to Grayson Co. from Marion Co., KY. James is found on census reports with an older Richard HAZELWOOD, b. ca 1782, VA, who is reported to be their father. There were several HAZELWOOD families in Virginia, all of old English stock. All of these families are always listed as "white" in all census reports and there is no indication of Native American roots, at least as far back as the late 1700's. Amanda HAZELWOOD has not apparent Native American roots, or at least to any substantial degree. Bill Vincent
