    1. [CREEK-SOUTHEAST] Brown is prominent Yuchi family name in East-Central Alabama
    2. This is in response to the inquiries about Native American "Browns" around Opelika, AL. The Auburn-Opelika area NW of Columbus was one of the last places that Creeks and Yuchi lived on tribal land in Alabama. I was formerly the planning consultant for Lee County, AL and still maintain contacts with people of Creek descent there. The Brown family name there is associated with the Yuchi. In fact, the Brown's continue to be prominent Yuchi leaders in Oklahoma. The City of Tulsa, OK was founded by Creeks from the Auburn-Opelika Area. Principal Chief Ellis of the Creek Nation, is descended from that tribal town. Richard T.
