H., that is detailed information; I have seen much information online but it is vague. Thanks very much. We are descendants of a Joseph Glawson (also spelled Glasson, Glason, Glosson), born in North Carolina possibly near Duplin Co. I think circa 1750; died shortly before 1790; married Sarah Clarke alias Sarah Aquila (2 maiden names apparently; born around Orange Co., North Carolina circa 1755) who appears as a head of house and widow on the 1790 census. We have not traced ours back much before that. Do you know much about the Glisson line having intermarried with members of what became known as the Lumbee tribe, for I have heard that at least some Glissons did intermarry with this group at some point??? The Lumbee are descendants of the so-called 'lost colony' founded by Raleigh in Carolina's barrier islands/outer banks in the late 1500's. The tribe disappeared and was supposed to have gone inland perhaps. Persons appearing mixed racially and part Indian later claimed to trace their ancestry to a group of English settlers way back and were later recognized as the descendants of that group by the U.S. The Lumbee tribe still makes its home in North Carolina today, and appears mixed racially, some clearly Indian looking. Sincerely, C. E. Whitehead
