My great grandmother was Sophronia A. Knight (b. 1855- Barbour Co. Alabama) who married Francis Marion Stephens born about the same time and place and were married 11/14/1876 in Barbour Co. I know that they came to Alabama along the migration routes from Orange Co. through Georgia and finally settling in Barbour, Co. My father had a cousin named Marion Knight. These families had Native connections and were typical of the mixed bloods evading removal by hiding their connections for generations.
