    3. Checked my copy of Decatur Co, Ga, Historical Society book (1823-1991) which is an excellent publication. Did not find any a Battons, but gobs of Godwin's. No Alfred, but he was too old to be in the index and probably would not reveal his Indian heritage anyway. This area was pretty much Creek and not Cherokee. ----- Original Message ----- From: "M.H.
