I know that a lot of Godwins still live in Pelham. You may try the Pelham directory. If that does not work, call Ike Godwin in Mexico Beach, Florida. He is from Pelham and owns Fiesta Food Store in Mexico Beach. His son still runs a store in Pelham. They may know some information that may help you. Some pioneers adopted Indian children after their parents were killed by settlers. That happened in my family. It has been a long time and not many Godwins will remember anything about it. The Godwins are nice people and perhaps they will know some information.
