When I first subscribed to ancestry.com, little did I know that it is the old carrot and stick routine. The basic package does little good, and if you get a little more, you still can't get where you want to go. You have to shell out big bucks. I got out and plan to stay out. I would rather travel to Alabama courthouses and spend more money. At least noone is tryin to rip me off!
We'll probably be chastised for posting this info here. However, I agree with all that Ancestry.com is a rip off. I was on their site for a year, they invite you to rejoin by phone, then automatically resubscribe you. When you call, one can wait for over 45 minutes, while they hope you will hang up. I refuse to do business with anyone that one can only deal with via telephone. Their prices are high, and when I had their census information I couldn't read the print and it was slow. ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Stribling" <redpath@sowega.net> To: <CREEK-SOUTHEAST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 26, 2005 7:47 PM Subject: [CREEK-SOUTHEAST] Ancestry.com > When I first subscribed to ancestry.com, little did I know that it is the old carrot and stick routine.
