I hope the host/hostess doesn't mind my being off topic. Since it's a small list here, and I think someone may have computer problems I thought I should let them know before their computer goes down. okay, I posted to the Creek list the other day. Today I got an ATTACHMENT back from the list, supposedly from the list, from myself. I know that the rootsweb lists do not accept attachments, so this is suspect. I also know that I didn't send an attachement to the list, nor to myself, so it's double suspect. HOWEVER, the way most virus' work is to duplicate from your mail addresss book or from your mail, stealing email addresses, and posing as if they were going out from that address...and lately there has been some duplication of subject and list names. SO, my thought is that someone on the list has a virus contamination and need to check. If you haven't been updating about every 10 days your online anti virus softwear, you may have picked up one, especially if you click open attachments. NEVER open an attachment you don't expect. If it seems legit ask the person if they sent it. I highly recommend if you have any concerns you should (1) use an online virus scanner, probably the most reputable one I know of is http://www.antivirus.com you have to click the tools at this site to get it. It's called HOUSECALLS. Follow directions after you get there, Sometimes that one does not find everything and I try http://www.pandasoftware.com (2) download an updated anti virus program. TREND has one that is free trial at http://www.grisoft.com it can be updated regularly once installed, it's called AVG (3) try to get a firewall installed as well. I tried ZONE ALARM and liked it. I ended up buying the full version. It's also available by trial online. it's at http://zonealarm.com Good luck, Debbie
