Charles, just a comment, Marshall Co. ALA was full of mixed Cherokee people. Gunter's landing was a ferry run by a mixed Cherokee family (Gunters). It may not mean anything but I thought I'd let you know. My ancestor, ie. James Manuel THOMPSON b abt 1848 NC was in Marshall Co. ALA 1880.
