    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Glawson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5R.2ADI/918.2.1.3.1 Message Board Post: Hi, I am most interested in knowing more about the aquila branch and where it came from (Sarah's 2 names were Clark and Aquila; that's all I know about her; aquila is Latin for Eagle and was used sometimes around the Middle Ages especially in Spain and Italy; rarely in Prussia or England) We are descendants of Joseph's son Hugh who was born in the 1780's, I guess just before Joseph's death. Hugh named his eldest son "Clark," I guess after Hugh's mother Sarah (whose father's last name was "Clark"). I find that sometimes the name is spelled Glason, sometimes Glasson, sometimes Glawson, sometimes even Glosson, in the case of our family. The ones we have all signed with X's. Sincerely, C. E. Whitehead

    3. verify this but I was told once that Aquilla or Eagle was a symbol of support in the Rev. War, the Eagle being the secret sign of American support. Not sure if it's a factual story but if you find out please let me know! ----- Original Message ----- From: <cewcathar@hotmail.com> To: <CREEK-SOUTHEAST-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2005 8:22 PM Subject: [CREEK-SOUTHEAST] Re: Obediah Glisson > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Glawson > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5R.2ADI/918.2.1.3.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Hi, I am most interested in knowing more about the aquila branch and where it came from (Sarah's 2 names were Clark and Aquila; that's all I know about her; aquila is Latin for Eagle and was used sometimes around the Middle Ages especially in Spain and Italy; rarely in Prussia or England) > > We are descendants of Joseph's son Hugh who was born in the 1780's, I guess just before Joseph's death.
